Frequently Asked Questions
All other information will be posted as it becomes available.
- Who gets to go?
- In order for students to participate in any trip with the Piedmont Band program, students must be enrolled in band for the entire school year (both semesters). The only exception to this rule are students that are in Color Guard that do NOT play a band instrument during the second semester. Any middle school students that are members of the 2025 marching band are invited to go on the trip as well.
- What is the cost?
- Student cost is $1007 per person. Chaperone cost is $1202. The cost difference is the chaperones are 2 per room, while the students are 4 per room. Students and chaperones will have monthly payments for about 7 months. See above payment schedule. All band fees must be paid in full before any money will be credited toward the trip.
- What does the cost include?
- It includes all transportation fees for the drivers, buses and gas, hotel for 4 nights, breakfast each morning at the hotel, a 3 day park hopper ticket to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, and a Disney meal card for food while in the parks. Any meals while on the road will be fast food and will be the responsibility for each individual.
- When and where the does the band perform?.
- We will perform in a parade either in the Magic Kingdom on Tuesday, April 7. Times have not been announced yet.
- Who gets to chaperone?
- Parents/Legal Guardians of Pride of Piedmont members get to chaperone. Former students and siblings of students are not allowed to chaperone. There will be a sign up date for interested chaperones in the Spring of 2025.
- Can younger/older siblings go on the trip with the band?
- No. This is a trip for the Pride of Piedmont Band. We want to give as many students a chance to participate as possible.
- Will students be allowed to walk around WDW by themselves?
- No. Safety is our #1 priority. WDW Resort is twice the size of Manhattan. Students will be in groups of 4 or more, and each group will have an adult chaperone with them while in the parks.
- Will there be a nurse on the trip to help with medicines and emergencies?
- Yes. We will have a band parent/UCPS employee that will assume all responsibilities when it comes to medications and any other medical need that may come up. She will check in and check out all the medicine for students during the trip. We will have a place set up in the hotel lobby each morning and evening for students to take their meds. She will also be in the parks with the band if there is any type of illness or emergency.
- Can parents come down separately and watch the performance if they are not chaperones?
- ABSOLUTELY!!!! Anyone and everyone can come to Disney World. You will be 100% responsible for all expenses related to YOUR trip. You can however purchase the EXACT same ticket as the band kids at the same price. Each student and chaperone will be getting a 3 Day Park Hopper Pass, which means that is what you will be getting too. These tickets do expire once the trip is over, so you have to use your tickets the same time as the band.
- If I'm not the trip, but I am coming to Disney World separately, can I still hang out with my child?
- No. Each student is assigned a chaperone, and that chaperone is responsible for every student in his/her group. We do not want to add any stress to the chaperone by having other people hanging out with them while in the parks.
- I'm not on the trip, but can I stay at the same resort as the band?
- Yes. You can do what you want. It is your money and your trip. Things that can NOT happen include having your kid stay in your room. Remember they are part of a school sponsored trip, and Mr. Lukac, Ms. Helms, and all the chaperones have to keep tabs on each student at all times. Honestly, as a parent, I would stay at another resort, enjoy a trip without the kids, and get some R and R. Mr. Lukac will take care of your kids and make sure they create the best memories possible.
- If I'm in Florida separatly, will I be able to sign out my child at the end of the trip and the keep them with me?
- Yes. On the last night of the trip (Thursday), parents can come to the hotel and sign their child out with Mr. Lukac. This will take a few minutes. Your child's chaperone will have to do a room inspection for your child after they get their stuff packed up. You will need to sign out any meds that were turned in for your child. Once everything has been signed off, yall are free to go, and your child is now 100% your responsibility. Mr. Lukac and the band nurse will be in the main lobby waiting for you. You must be at the hotel at the same time we are scheduled to be back at the hotel.
