BAND CAMP DATES (OFFICIAL)

Summer and Fall Schedules are available on the Documents page and on the Calendar page.

Parents can start making online payments towards band fees by clicking on "online marching payments."

The UCPS School Board just released an updated school calendar for next year.  This caused band camp to change drastically.  Please be aware of the changes.  Emails were sent home to students and parents on January 27.  The new band camp schedule has been updated on google calendar and on the Documents page above.


Please do not schedule vacations, physicals, dentist appointments, summer jobs, DRIVERS ED, etc during any dates or times listed below.  The schedule is being made public now so conflicts can be avoided.   It is vital to have everyone at each practice.  This is when we learn most of the show.  This is a large commitment to make, but without 100% attendance, we will not be able to have a successful season.  Students must be able to make this kind of commitment. Please make adjustments now so ALL students will be at ALL practices.

  • May 5 - Marching Band Payment #1
  • May 6 - Spring Training.  All day. Times TBA *NEW*
  • May 16 - Brass and Woodwinds Spring Training, 3:30pm to 6pm *NEW*
  • May 23 - HS Concert in PHS Auditorium, 7pm
  • May 30 - Brass and Woodwinds Spring Training, 3:30pm to 6pm *NEW*

CLEANING UNIFORMS

CLEANING
  • ​You are responsible for cleaning your uniform AND ironing the cuffs of the pants and jackets after EACH contest performance.
  • Do NOT clean your uniform if you have well-water.  You need to find a member in the band to be your washing buddy each week.  You are responsible for getting your uniform to your washing buddy each time.
  • Do not dry clean.
  • DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER!!!!!  It will leave stains in the fabric.
  • Wash in cold water only with a NON-bleach detergent.
  • Air Dry.  Do not put in dryer.
  • Hat slips must also be cleaned.  They can go in the washing machine, but they must AIR DRY.  No well water.
  • Color guard costumes should be hand-washed in the sink with just a little laundry detergent.  Air dry.  Do not put in the dryer.   Be very gentle when cleaning them.

IRONING
  • Guard uniforms should NOT be ironed!!!!!!
  • The cuffs of the pants and jackets are the only parts required to be ironed, but you are welcome to iron other spots as needed, but be careful.
  • Please be very careful when ironing the uniforms.
  • Iron on low heat.  A hot iron will melt the fabric very quickly.
  • Make sure the snaps inside the pant cuffs and jacket cuffs are snapped in the correct holes.  We want to create a nice crease in the bottom of the pants and jackets so it will give a clean look to the band students when in uniform.
  • Do NOT leave the iron sitting on the fabric at any time.
